Determinants of Employeeâ€™s Turnover: A Case Study at Madda Walabu University

The research is aimed at investigating the major determinants of employeeâ€™s turnover in Madda Walabu University. The study was conducted using interviews, document analysis and questionnaires.Â Both primary and secondary sources of data were used., Model developed by different scholars as to the demographic factors, individual factors and Organizational factorsÂ on the impacts on employeeâ€™s turnover was reviewed. The data was collected from both academic and administrative staffs. Thus, from a total of 2,387 populations of the academic and administrative staff of, 343 samples of the study were selected using purposive, stratified and simple random sampling techniques. Questionnaires and interviews were used as a primary data collection tools. For the quantitative data analysis Descriptive and Inferential Statistics were used. The analysis result indicates that (age, Current education qualification, Job satisfaction, personal factors, working environment and Training and development) have significant effect on employee turnover in the University at ( ). Since skilled staffs turnover affect the University; it is recommended that the University had better strongly work on reduction mechanisms like encouraging employees to participate in decision making, arranging good working environment, sharing benefits based on employeeÂ performance, giving promotions, giving clear path for career advancement, training and development mechanisms.Â Â Keywords: Employee turnover, determinants, logistic regression.
