Abstract:
This study addresses the void in the academic literature on the research productivity of junior faculty by appraising some alternative research productivity metrics for junior faculty in economics. These include the use of journal impact factors, which capture information on the quality of publishing outlets, and a quantitative measure of research output by the junior economics faculty in a given department.
