Movies and holidays: the empirical relationship between movies and tourism

Abstract: Governments around the world believe that tourism will increase if locations within their nations are featured in films. Money and other inducements are often offered to moviemakers to encourage them to shoot within a particular constituency. This article finds a positive and statistically significant relationship between successful films and tourism.
