The role of education in determining the attitudes towards crime in Europe

Abstract: Using data from the European Social Survey (ESS), we investigate the relationship between education and attitudes towards offences and crime. The results suggest that in a European context years spent in education are positively associated with more permissive attitudes towards criminal behaviour.
