On the government consumption multipliers evolvement over time: an SVAR analysis

Abstract: We display and discuss general government consumption multipliers from a bivariate SVAR for a sample of 18 OECD countries. Our results support relatively the tendency of weak government consumption multipliers – particularly for the short-term multipliers – for the recent periods compared to previous ones, as suggested by some authors.
