Employment response to a hypothetical financial emergency: new data from the survey of consumer finances

Abstract:
When faced with a financial emergency, households have a number of ways to respond. In the most recent version of the U.S. Survey of Consumer Finances, a variable was added that asked whether households would consider increased work as a response. This paper examines how economic and demographic factors affect the response to that question.
