Abstract:
The adoption of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) has been rising globally. While their benefits are recognized, they are underutilized, particularly among commodity exporters. This research adds to the nascent literature on factors, focusing on external support, institutional readiness, and domestic capability, that influence SWF adoption. We highlight the importance of international financial institutions, policy frameworks, and technical capability in supporting countries’ adoption of SWFs.
