Abstract:
The article contributes to our understanding of the benefits of engaging children in filmmaking to counter their natural disconnect with complicated socio-economic and climate change (SECC) science. Despite emerging scholarly works in the field, there is a lack of sufficient empirical evidence. Focusing on environmental filmmaking by school children in India, the study draws its data from participant observation, examination of select children-produced films, and interviews with mentors and past and present participants to argue that filmmaking activities have both immediate and long-term positive effects on young minds in sustaining their interest in environmental issues and making them possible change agents in the future.
