Natural gas infrastructure investment, regulation and ownership: the Australian case
José Hernández Ibarzábal
Policy Studies, 2011, vol. 32, issue 3, 231-242
Abstract:
This case study looks at the natural gas industry, with particular reference to recent Australian developments. It connects with the issues of ownership and regulation within the global financial system, using the Australian experience to show how these issues are playing out in this industry. Whether the interaction of independent regulation and competition has attracted more non-government investment in natural gas infrastructure is considered, with conclusions that may have relevance for other utility industries and infrastructure projects.
