Abstract:
This introduction presents an overview of articles exploring radical leftist politics in the Third World/Global South, with a focus in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Latin America. This issue features contributions from authors examining various dimensions of a diverse radical left across the two regions, situated within distinct historical contexts. The discussions range from visual politics and editorial manoeuvres of the radical left in Latin America and their evolution across critical periods, to contemporary radical leftist theory and practice in the MENA region, as well as the interfaces between religion and leftist politics. Through these contributions, we highlight the importance of looking beyond prominent cases, and of exploring radical leftist connections and exchanges in/from the margins.
