Minnie Throop England On Crises And Cycles: A Neglected Early Macroeconomist

Abstract: Minnie Throop England published important articles on crises and cycles between 1906 and 1915, but has been forgotten in the history of macroeconomics. Her promotion theory of cycles was close to Schumpeter's cycle theory, and she was an important critic of Fisher's monetary theory of fluctuations. This article examines her contributions to economics and her tumultuous career.
