Regional cooperation in Northeast Asia: Beyond the economic crisis

Abstract: Contrary to the prevailing views and thoughts on the impact of the Asian financial crisis on the future prospects for regional cooperation in Northeast Asia, the paper attempts to endorse the positive aspects of the issue by emphasizing what they had either overlooked or neglected in their observation. Claiming that regional cooperation is no longer an abstract term, the paper makes its case on the observation of the positive development of inter-national relations in the region and on the studies of seemingly feasible initiatives proposed by the regional states, such as FTA and AMF.
