New York.Com: A Political Economy of the "Informational" City

Abstract:
Starting with a brief overview of the political economy perspective, this article ad- dresses its interest in media concentration and convergence and proceeds to examine spatial convergence and its consequences in New York City. It describes some of the spatial and transformative aspects of this convergence, including the rise of a new media industry, and takes up its wider political, economic, social, and cultural implications.
