Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies, 2025, vol. 23, issue 2, 191-208

Abstract: This article analyzes the strategic positioning of Guangxi’s cooperation with Southeast Asia in the Belt and Road Initiative, and explains the importance of port development to Guangxi. By constructing an evaluation indicator system and using the entropy-Topsis method to measure and rank the comprehensive competitiveness of 17 listed companies in China’s port industry from 2017 to 2021, we show that the competitiveness of Beibu Gulf Port Group has slowly increased, its cooperation around the Belt and Road Initiative has ushered in a broader space for development, and it has gradually becoming an essential hub of China- ASEAN cooperation. At present, the biggest problem facing Beibu Gulf Port Group is that the enterprise’s ability to attract talents is insufficient, resulting in the lack of innovative talents to promote the modernization of the enterprise. We put forward some suggestions and give the future research direction.
