Abstract:
The Journal of Social Entrepreneurship (JSE) reached its 10th year of publishing in 2020. In recognition of this milestone, this study analyses 221 articles published in JSE during 2010–2020 employing bibliometric approaches to explore the trends and trajectories of JSE publications and culminate in a research agenda. Analysis uncovered an upward trend of publication growth underpinned by business management research, the dominance of North American and European contributions; and an imbalance of methodological diversity. Bibliographic coupling networks captured antecedents to social entrepreneurial process; social finance and investment; and social enterprise identity and legitimacy as the prominent themes emerged through this decade of research in JSE. Future research and publication areas were suggested along the lines of capturing context and mechanism of social entrepreneurial process and social change mechanism; increasing multidisciplinary perspective; developing a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship; advancing social entrepreneurship teaching practice and improving methodological diversity.
