Identifying Cross-Country Key Drivers of Social Entrepreneurial Activity

Abstract: This study investigated the correlates of broad and narrow social entrepreneurship activity and 83 socio economic indicators among a sample of countries for which sufficient data exists. The study identified that broad and narrow social entrepreneurial activities are predicted through different drivers. Broad social entrepreneurial activity is driven by labor force with tertiary education, growth of carbon dioxide emissions, long-term unemployment, and percentage of stock of immigrants in a country. The narrowly defined social entrepreneurial activity is driven by taxes on income, profit and capital gains, growth of carbon dioxide emissions, and perception of standard of living in a country.
