Abstract: This paper’s purpose is to elaborate the role of networks in the social entrepreneurial process and their positive outcomes. Social networks contribute to the establishment, sustenance and expansion of the small- and medium-sized social entrepreneurship projects in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The research design and methodology are based on the principles of phenomenology coupled with insights from 10 social entrepreneurs regarding the role of networks in their journey of a start-up’s sustenance and expansion. Findings indicate that networks support resource management and help in building social ties and social capital, and unveil the core of social entrepreneurship to suggest an institutional framework that can encourage the youth in the region to perceive their ventures for the benefit of the society.
