Abstract:
Recently, the concept of generalized entropy has been widely studied in the literature of information theory for left and right truncated random variables. In the present paper, we consider a doubly truncated generalized entropy of order (α,β). It is shown that the proposed measure uniquely determines the distribution function and quite a few distributions have been characterized. Further, we study some bounds for generalized interval entropy of order (α,β) and obtain its properties. Most of the results available in the literature in this direction can be obtained as particular cases of our general results. An application of the proposed measure in context of reliability modeling is also investigated.
