Abstract:
It is useful to find new distributions having a simple explicit form instead of distributions having an implicit form to use, especially, in simulation studies and, practically, in real data sets. In this paper, a new double bounded distribution so called the new form Libby-Novick (NLN) distribution is proposed, the NLN distribution has simpler form than the Libby-Novick beta (LNB) distribution due to the NLN closed form and has several advantages over the LNB distribution as it is mentioned later. The probability density function (PDF), the cumulative distribution function (CDF), moments, quantiles, the mode, the mean deviation, the entropy and order statistics are obtained. Parameters estimation based on maximum likelihood method is used. A numerical study conducted to assess the finite sample behavior of the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs). A real data set is given to see how the new model works practically compared with other distributions.
