Abstract: Despite the importance of stochastic orders, it is not trivial to verify them for folded normal random variables. By considering the number of sign changes of density functions in our article, we characterized the stochastic orderings for folded normal random variables in the sense of the usual stochastic order, hazard rate order, reversed hazard rate order, likelihood ratio order, convex order, and increasing convex order. An numerical example is also provided to illustrate the stochastic orderings. Our results generalized the previous work in Horn (1988) and Wang and Wang (2011).
