Abstract:
The announcement of the Rotterdam Rules, a new convention governing the carriage of goods through maritime transport, was greeted with support and opposition. This commentary analyzes its pros and cons, and argues that when fully implemented, the convention will have a significant impact on the carriage of goods and is poised to boost the volume of maritime trade.
