Driving destination loyalty via separate impact of hedonia and eudaimonia

Current Issues in Tourism, 2021, vol. 24, issue 8, 1048-1053

Abstract: Experiences of happiness, dividable into hedonia and eudaimonia, are the integral part of holistic travel experience. Hedonia refers to happiness derived from pleasure seeking and pain avoidance, whereas eudaimonia refers to happiness derived from life meaning enrichment and self-connectedness facilitation. As the current study theorizes and verifies, hedonia and eudaimonia generate separate impact on destination loyalty directly and through partial mediation of overall satisfaction. The research result sheds further light on how to drive destination loyalty via experiences of happiness.
