Abstract:
This study aims to shed light on the COVID-19 pandemic effects on cultural tourism, given the economic aspects linked to heritage assets arising in cultural tourism destinations. We focus on the case of the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, one of the most visited sites in Spain, analysing how the economic flows generated by this monument have been affected by the outbreak through an applied linear general equilibrium model calibrated by a social accounting matrix. Results indicate that tourism and especially cultural tourism are among the hardest hit sectors during the pandemic.
