Distribution of local food activity in England and Wales: An index of food relocalization

Despite much interest in the relocalization of the food supply chain in England and Wales, it is unclear whether local food systems are more developed in some areas than others. The aim is to identify current areas of local food activity in England and Wales through the application of an Index of Food Relocalization. The Index is developed by using indicators related to the production and marketing of local food products and results suggest a complex geography associated with such activities. Es ist das Ziel dieses Aufsatzes, gegenwartige Gebiete ortlicher Lebensmittelunternehmen in England und Wales mittels eines Indexes von Standortwechseln von Nahrungsmittelquellen zu analysieren. Der Index wird mit Hilfe von Indikatoren entwickelt, die sich auf Erzeugung und Vermarktung ortlicher Nahrungsmittel beziehen, wobei die Ergebnisse nahelegen, dass diese Aktivitaten von einem komplexen geographischen Verteilungssystem begleitet werden. El objetivo de este articulo es identificar cuales son las areas de abastecimiento local de alimentos en Inglaterra y Gales en funcion de un Indice de Relocalizacion de Alimentos. Este indice se basa en el uso de indicadores relacionados con la produccion y el comercio de productos alimenticios locales y los resultados muestran que existe una geografia compleja asociada a tales actividades.
