Geoff Brennan and Cost Benefit Analysis: In Class with Cliff Walsh

Jeff Bennett

History of Economics Review, 2024, vol. 88, issue 1, 37-46

Abstract: In this paper, the goal is to examine elements of philosophy, politics and economics that are inherent to the theory and conduct of cost benefit analysis (CBA), as they emerged in the lectures provided by Brennan and Walsh. An attempt is also made to relate the debates conducted nearly 50 years ago to current developments in the use of CBA in the Australian context.
