Abstract:
This study reports on the development of the Journal of Real Estate Research (JRER) in terms of the individual and institutional contributing sources of its published research. The study is based on an analysis of authorship information for 650 articles published in the first twenty-seven volumes of JRER from 1986 to 2005. The findings provide evaluative information, including identification of most frequently contributing authors, extent of collaboration, institutional sources, and geographic origins for research published by JRER. The study concludes that JRER has developed into a widely respected outlet for refereed research in real estate as evidenced by the substantial number of contributing authors affiliated with high quality institutions. Other findings highlight inclusion as a core principle of JRER as indicated by the sizeable contributions from non-academic authors and through international expansion marked by the rapidly increasing number of non-U.S. contributing institutions.
