Journal of Real Estate Practice and Education, 2009, vol. 12, issue 2, 105-121

Abstract: Graduate programs with a concentration in real estate continue to search for the best ways to educate students. In an effort to uncover the views and opinions of various stakeholders in real estate education on the key elements of a successful program, this study analyzes the data collected from a survey of almost 1,000 individuals. The results show that there are similarities, but also many differences between the opinions of faculty, administrators, students, alumni, and board members. These findings may help faculty and administrators revise existing programs or design/develop new ones. They may also help prospective students evaluate the different programs. Finally, the results provide some insight into the often-cited disconnect between "town and gown," and opens the dialogue for all involved to work together to improve the programs.
