International Review of Public Administration, 2001, vol. 6, issue 1, 21-28
Abstract:
This article acknowledges the critical contribution of public enterprises to India’s economic and social development. It argues that serious notice must be taken of their performance and achievements, as they continue to perform a vital role in the management of public affairs. An analysis of national enterprises since the 1980s indicates that many have achieved commendable levels of performance and often out-performed enterprises in the private sector.
