Reflecting on the Critical Dialogic Accounting and Accountability Conference

Matthew Sorola, Richard Jabot and Maxence Postaire

Social and Environmental Accountability Journal, 2024, vol. 44, issue 3, 237-257

Abstract: In October 2023, a group of accounting scholars interested in critical dialogic accounting and accountability (CDAA) gathered in Toulouse, France to attend a 2-day conference. Rather than presenting papers, the CDAA conference was designed around 3 workshops and 4 panel sessions to foster discussion on different topics in CDAA research. Looking to develop a collaborative atmosphere for dialogue and debate among attendees, the objective was to build their capacity to understand, engage with and perhaps even utilize CDAA in their own research interests. This commentary has been produced by the organizers of this conference to reflect on its design as a collaborative space, report back on insights that were developed, and avenues for research that were discussed.
