Integrating climate change and sustainable development in a place-based context
Thomas J. Wilbanks
Climate Policy, 2003, vol. 3, issue sup1, S147-S154
Abstract:
This paper reports on investigations of two propositions. First, it is easy to overestimate the importance of climate change in the larger picture of sustainable development while at the same time underestimating the potential for climate change concerns to be a catalyst for progress toward sustainable development. Second, these imbalances in perceptions are more likely to be addressed effectively at a local scale than at a global or national scale.
