Natural capital – a practitioner’s overview of concepts and applications

Abstract: Working with the concept of natural capital has changed the way we do environmental economics in practice. This article sets the scene by defining natural capital, natural capital approach and natural capital accounting. The reasons why businesses prepare natural capital accounts are summarised. The article concludes with thoughts on what the future holds for the natural capital approach.
