A novel tri-band band-pass filter using combined simplified CRLH and right-handed SIRs

Abstract: In this study, a novel tri-band band-pass filter using combined simplified composite right-/left-handed (CRLH) and right-handed (RH) stepped impedance resonators (SIR) is presented. This filter utilizes the zeroth order resonance of the SIRs in the CRLH region and RH resonance in the RH region to produce three different passbands. The proposed filter is simulated and measured, and measurement results match well with simulation ones. Good properties of low in-band insertion loss, good out-band rejection, and compact size have been achieved and verified, and it can be easily applied in the microwave circuits and wireless communication systems.
