Abstract:
A new low-cost printed monopole antenna for C-band dual-polarized radar systems is presented. The antenna is well suited for C-band radar systems requiring wide-angle scanning and ease of integration with printed monopole using low-cost commercial substrate. Irregular reflector for upper monopole is employed to obtain regular radiation pattern. Prototypes of the optimized designs have been fabricated and tested. Both simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna has promising attributes with return loss less than -10$ -10 $ dB and both port isolation higher than 28 dB from 4.8 to 5.2 GHz. Moreover, stable radiation pattern with high gain (>6.8dBi$ {>}6.8~\mathrm{dBi} $) and reduced cross-polarization (
