Abstract:
The focus of this article is on calculation of the radar cross-section (RCS) of two-dimensional closed-surface perfect electrically conducting scatterers of arbitrary cross-section in TM polarization. For this purpose, two-dimensional magnetic field integral equation (MFIE), formulated for TM polarization, is used as the mathematical model of the scattering problem. For solving the MFIE model, a numerical method based on cardinal basis functions is proposed to obtain the current distribution induced on the scatterer and then the RCS is calculated. The method is numerically evaluated via calculation of RCS for some structures of various cross-sections by which the accuracy and computational efficiency of the method will be demonstrated.
