Abstract:
The fast method of calculating radiation resistance of an antenna with catenary elements is improved in this paper to include more complicated structures and also structures that contain catenary elements and straight wires together. Convergence of the equations of these structures is discussed and closed-form formulas for the derivatives of the Jacobean matrix are obtained. It is shown that the modification on sectionalized Loran transmitter antenna produces a new class of low-frequency antennas named as square top loaded antenna. Using the introduced method, a new structure is proposed for the antenna, easier for fabrication and with better reactance. In addition, a trade-off is shown between resistance and reactance of the antenna where additional wire usually improves the reactance and decreases the radiation resistance.
