Abstract:
In this paper, a simple mechanism for circular polarization (CP) operation is introduced for a square-ring antenna. The proposed antenna consists of a simple square ring with a short-circuited stub and a T-shaped feeding structure. A square-ring antenna is loaded with a short-circuited stub. This antenna shows dual resonance (f1 and f2) with linear polarizations that are orthogonal to each other. The second resonant frequency (f2) is controlled without varying the first resonant frequency (f1) by adjusting the dimensions of the short-circuited stub. By choosing suitable dimensions for the stub, the two resonant frequencies are close to each other, and two orthogonal resonant modes with a 90° phase difference are excited. As a result, good CP is achieved.
