Abstract:
In planar antennas, the bandwidth enhancement can be obtained by multi-layered structure and using the parasitic patch along with proximity coupling. In this paper, further enhancement of the bandwidth demonstrated by integrating specific shape of the defected ground structure (DGS) in the ground layer of multi-layered circular polarized planar antenna. Enhancement of 64% in return loss bandwidth and 25% in axial ratio bandwidth obtained after integrating ring shape DGS. Two Laboratory prototype of antennas, one with and another without DGS are fabricated and tested. Details of the proposed antenna designs and role of DGS in performance enhancement of planar antenna are described, and typical experimental results are presented and discussed.
