Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2017, vol. 31, issue 4, 363-374

Abstract: In this paper, a Pierce-type analysis for the novel gap-groove folded-waveguide (GGFW) sheet electron beam traveling-wave tube is presented. The introduced analysis effectively reduces the required time for the initial design and optimization procedure of these kinds of tubes. Using equivalent circuit of the slow-wave structure, the one-dimensional linearized Pierce theory is applied to calculate the amplifier gain. Furthermore, the obtained results of the analysis are compared with those of PIC simulations. Good agreement between these results verifies the correctness and accuracy of the presented analysis.
