Abstract:
A composite antenna with wide impedance bandwidth and enhanced isolation for multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) applications is introduced in this article. A simple conformal-strip fed rectangular dielectric resonator (rDR) with a conducting conformal-patch, which provides wide impedance bandwidth (3.21-6.19 GHz), is utilized as an antenna element. The proposed MIMO antenna is formed by arranging two symmetrical composite antenna elements side by side along with a simple decoupling structure (based on a wide rectangular slot and two metallic strips) in between them. The proposed MIMO antenna delivers good inter-port isolation (greater than 18 dB) over the entire operating bandwidth. Also, a well satisfactory outcome of the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is obtained over this bandwidth. Moreover, the proposed antenna exhibits a stable broadside directional radiation pattern over the entire operating bandwidth.
