Abstract:
In this paper, we propose a dual-band, polarization-insensitive, wide-angle metasurface array for radio frequency energy harvesting (RFEH) in the GSM-1800 band and Wi-Fi band. The metasurface array comprises periodically arranged cell structures and rectifiers. The metasurface unit cell structure comprises two rhombic rings, each with four splits, nested in a centrosymmetric configuration, and is referred to as nested open diamond rings. The unit cells are interconnected via a channel, with the rectifier integrated at the channel's terminus. The proposed array has polarization insensitive properties and wide angle characteristics. A 7 × 7 array was fabricated to verify the proposed design. The test results show that the efficiency of the rectifying metasurface is 64% at 1.8 GHz when the input power is −6 dBm and 49% at 5.8 GHz when the incident power is 3 dBm.
