Abstract:
We propose a low-complexity time-reversal (TR) positioning scheme that exploits multipath through spatio-temporal beamforming. Replacing the conventional free-space Green's function with a propagation Green's function - obtained from the spatial-spectrum expansion of a source embedded in a multilayered medium - captures wall effects and boosts positioning accuracy, resolution, and signal-to-clutter ratio without relying on GNSS. We validate the approach in a street-canyon measurement campaign, tracking a single user along both line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight paths. Data were collected with a switched-array MIMO channel sounder operating at 28 GHz, confirming the method's enhanced precision under realistic urban conditions.
