Abstract: With the rapid growth of terrestrial and mobile telecommunications, companies in this sector need highly selective equipment, lightweight with low manufacturing costs, hence the interest in miniaturizing front-end electronic components such as filters, antennas, mixers etc. In this paper, a novel structure of a passband and highly selective filter is proposed and discussed. The design involving two complementary split-ring resonator filter (CSRRF) configurations in microstrip technology operating at 6 GHz is investigated. To achieve the goal of this research the “N + 2” cross-coupling matrix method is used. The step-shaped CSRR filter that yields better electrical performance, smaller size, and low weight is realized. Its frequency responses simulated with HFSS software are compared with experimental measurements. An excellent agreement is observed in terms of bandwidth and center frequency.
