Abstract:
A bandpass frequency selective surface (FSS) consisting of a single-layer meandered line deposited on a substrate layer is presented. Compared with the reported FSSs using the meandered technique, the meandered line evolving from the centered cross dipole in this design can not only increase the electrical length but also be equival to a shunt capacitor and inductor. The equivalence relation from the meandered line to the lumped components is verified by the current distribution. The dimension of the element is only 0.09 λ and the thickness is 0.008 λ. In addition, the proposed FSS can provide stable transmission performance within 80° under TE and TM modes. The measured transmission response of the fabricated prototype agrees well with the simulated result, thus demonstrating the validity of the design.
