Shaping of the turnout diverging track with variable curvature sections

Wladyslaw Koc

International Journal of Rail Transportation, 2017, vol. 5, issue 4, 229-249

Abstract: The paper presents an analytical method of shaping the turnout diverging track with variable curvature sections. It significantly differs from a typical solution consisting of a single circular arc without any transition curves. Two separate cases including linear and nonlinear curvature (polynomial) are examined. The obtained solutions to the problem are universal. They allow to adopt any arbitrary assumed values of curvature at both ends of the geometrical layout. The paper includes the results of the comparative analysis of the selected variants.
