Abstract:
Geneva, renowned for its intellectual acumen, cultural heritage, and diplomatic influence, has become a globally recognized hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. This article explores Geneva’s evolution, highlighting Switzerland’s sustained economic relevance. The city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem exemplifies adaptability and resilience, presenting a narrative shaped by tenacity, religious innovation, and a commitment to fostering an environment conducive to business growth. Central to this development was John Calvin, a leading French Protestant reformer. His interpretation of Christianity established theological and social patterns in Geneva that profoundly influenced Protestantism and significantly shaped the modern world. By analyzing critical historical events and the strategic actions of Geneva’s leadership, this article argues that the city’s rise as one of Europe’s most entrepreneurial cities is rooted in these influences. It demonstrates how Geneva leveraged its distinct heritage and policy frameworks to create an environment where creativity, enterprise, and growth could thrive.
