Abstract:
An “entrepreneurial mindset” in individuals is real, and it does exist in corporations despite the litany of barriers and challenges. Corporate entrepreneurship is conceptualized as an environment where the entrepreneurial mindset of individuals is sought after, supported, and nurtured for the purpose of carrying out innovative activities. In this article, we provide a brief overview of the existing research on corporate entrepreneurship as well as the entrepreneurial mindset. In doing so, we summarize some of the key findings from these currently disparate streams of work and acknowledge potential areas where an entrepreneurial mindset may face barriers in a corporate setting. We also identify areas for future research that may help to synergize the work on an entrepreneurial mindset in a corporate setting. To that end, we provide direction for scholars to better understand the forms, impediments, and actions of an entrepreneurial mindset in corporations.
