Journal of Small Business Management, 2025, vol. 63, issue 5, 2159-2187

Abstract: Digital technologies have drastically changed customer demands, leading companies to re-evaluate their innovation strategies. Our empirical findings establish that digital entrepreneurship is critical in service innovation. The findings highlight that having a dedicated individual explicitly in charge of digital transformation significantly influences on-demand service innovation and, ultimately, a firm’s performance. By focusing on the impact of digital entrepreneurship on service innovation, this study provides a simplified model for digital transformation. It draws generalizable conclusions from the analysis of a sample of South Korean enterprises, informing future empirical studies on digital transformation and its effects on business growth.
