Abstract: In interpersonal communication, the most sensitive topic is undoubtedly the self. Currently, when trying to obtain information concerning the privacy of a person, we’re faced with omissions or distortions. Hence the problem of self-disclosure. Although current developments in human communication prove the appropriateness of studying this concept, self-disclosure has been relatively little discussed. It is clear however that, for reasons still poorly understood, there is a great interindividual variability in the self-disclosure behavior. Thus, while some people are very reserved even to friends, others are willing to provide self-describing information to a person he/she had just met. As these trends are relatively stable within individuals, this study aims to identify some personality factors associated with the level of self-disclosure.
