The role of Emergency Intervention Centers in preventing abandonment

Abstract: Studies show that one of the main social problems are children abandon, mostly this happened because of poverty. What goes hand in hand with children abandon are teenage mothers. Abandon of newborns and teenage mothers is a real problem in Romania because the numbers it is continues to grow. The hope the the numbers of abandon to decrease „naturally†was in 90’s after the communist period, when the abortion and contraceptive methods become legal. The statistics of National Authority for children, persons with disabilities, adoption rights shows that in Romania, the number of children abandoned in hospitals maternity decreased from 5,130 in 2003 to 1,315 in 2010. The fastest decrease was recorded with a number of children of 4,614 in 2004 and 2,580 in 2005. The present study aims to identify and explore the medical-psycho-social difficulties faced by teenage mothers who arrive in the hospital Saint Andrei from Constanta, for a pregnancy control, to give birth, or other problems related to pregnancy. The research group consists of 30 teenage mothers, the research design was qualitative. Because they are teenage mothers, social workers from the hospital who they belong to the DGASPC Constanta give counseling, support and orientation if they have any problems. To be mention that also the hospital has social workers, but they are working together as a team. The introduction is about teenage mothers and the biological and social problems, marriage, abandon, decision of abortion, monoparental family. The second part is about activiti of a social worker in the hospital and the activties that they are made for the teenage mothers. The third part is about the information collected from the hospital and the interpretaion of the principal difficulties of them
