Abstract: This study investigates the psychological trauma experienced by patients seeking art therapy, resulting from various forms of sexual biases held by therapists. The study performs primary qualitative interviews guided by the framework of social constructivism and implicit bias theory to note the impact of biased approach by therapists. The study finds that therapists who hold sexual biases and make assumptions about the type of art or art materials patients might choose, as well as the trauma they may have experienced based on their gender, sexuality, and identity, contribute to the amplification of psychological trauma. The study finds that such assumptions guided by biased opinions about the gender and sexuality of the patient by the therapists discourages the patients from seeking therapies for their abusive and traumatic experiences.
